How PK domain pricing works

PK Domain Registration Prices

The table below lists our current registration and renewal price for every PKNIC .pk-family extension, in Pakistani rupees, so you can compare an open extension like .com.pk against a restricted one like .edu.pk before you decide which fits your name. Open extensions (.pk, .com.pk, .net.pk, .biz.pk, .web.pk and .fam.pk) can be registered by any individual or company with basic contact details on file. Restricted extensions (.gov.pk, .edu.pk and the provincial government names) additionally require supporting documentation, as described on our registration rules page, and can take a little longer to activate while that paperwork is verified. Every .pk-family name registers for a minimum of two years and a maximum of ten, and renews at a competitive rate rather than a sharply inflated one — see our transfer & renewal page for how renewals and ownership transfers work.

Every quote you see for a domain name is really three separate prices bundled into one purchase — it helps to know what each one covers before you buy.

Registration priceWhat you pay to secure a brand-new, previously unregistered name for its first term
Renewal priceWhat you pay each cycle afterwards to keep the name under your control
Transfer priceWhat it costs to move a domain you already own in from another registrar, usually adding a year of validity

For most Pakistani (.PK-family) extensions all three numbers are identical, because PKNIC — the sole registry for .pk — sets one flat reseller rate and every registered reseller, including us, quotes the same figure at every stage. International extensions can differ: a .COM or .NET price is set by the underlying registry and by wholesale supply among competing registrars, so the number you pay to register, renew or transfer in can genuinely differ from one another and from one seller to the next.

Why our pricing works out cheaper

We are a gold-tier PKNIC reseller, so 2nd-level PKNIC extensions such as .pk and .com.pk come to us near cost price, and we pass that saving straight to clients rather than pricing at what the market will bear. Buying several PK extensions for the same brand at once, or renewing a batch of names together, usually qualifies for a further discount on request. We've been recognised with PKNIC's President's Trophy for registering one of the highest volumes of PKNIC domains among resellers, and being based in Pakistan close to the registry itself helps us resolve any registration issue quickly rather than through a distant support queue.

Why .PK extensions vary in price

Even inside the same registry, not every .pk-family extension costs the same. PKNIC classifies extensions by who is eligible to hold them: open categories such as .PK, .COM.PK and .WEB.PK are available to any applicant, local or overseas, while restricted categories such as .EDU.PK require documentary proof from a recognised educational institution before the registry will approve the order. That extra verification step is part of why .EDU.PK carries a slightly higher registry fee than the general-purpose extensions in our price list.

Governmental extensions (.GOV.PK, .GOP.PK, .GOS.PK and the rest) are priced in line with the common-use extensions, but PKNIC still requires supporting documentation confirming the applicant is the relevant government department before registration proceeds — a compliance step rather than a pricing one.

ICANN fees and international extensions

Generic top-level domains such as .COM, .NET, .ORG, .INFO and .BIZ are not run by PKNIC — they sit under ICANN-accredited registries, and ICANN charges every registration, renewal and transfer a small fixed fee (historically around USD 0.18 per year, subject to change by ICANN itself) that every registrar worldwide must collect and remit. That fee is baked into the retail price you see rather than shown separately, and it's one reason gTLD pricing can shift slightly over time even when a reseller's own margin hasn't changed.

Choosing an extension on a budget

A few practical ways to keep the total cost of owning a domain down without compromising on a name that works for your brand.

Match validity to cash flowPK-family names run on a 2-year cycle by default — one payment covers you for longer, so the effective annual cost is lower than a 1-year gTLD at a similar headline price
Register in bulkBuying several extensions for the same brand, or renewing a batch of names together, usually qualifies for a discount on request
Consider a .PK alternativeIf your first-choice .COM is taken or priced as a premium resale, a matching .PK, .COM.PK or ccTLD is often available at standard registry pricing

Understanding first-year promotional pricing

You'll sometimes see a very low first-year rate advertised for a gTLD, well under what the same extension renews at. This is a standard, industry-wide practice: registries and registrars discount the first term to win new customers, then charge the regular registry-set rate from the second term onward. It's worth checking the renewal price, not just the promotional rate, before committing to a name for the long term — we list both clearly wherever they differ, and for the .PK-family extensions above there is no such gap: the registration price is the renewal price.

Frequently asked questions

Why do some extensions cost more than others?

Pricing reflects the wholesale rate the registry (PKNIC for .pk-family names, or the relevant gTLD registry for others) charges every reseller, plus any ICANN fee on international names, plus verification overhead for restricted categories like .EDU.PK.

Will my renewal price ever go up unexpectedly?

For every .PK-family extension, no — the price you register at is the price you renew at, for as long as you keep renewing with us. International extensions can move if the underlying registry changes its wholesale rate, and we always reflect that transparently before you renew.

Is the transfer price the same as the registration price?

For .PK-family extensions, yes. For a handful of gTLDs the transfer price can differ slightly from fresh registration — check the individual extension's page or contact us for an exact quote.

Do you offer any discount for buying multiple domains?

Yes — registering or renewing several PK extensions for the same brand together, or bulk-renewing a batch of names, usually qualifies for a discount on request.
