Registration and renewal follow the same PKNIC rules as every second-level .pk name: a minimum term of 2 years, up to a maximum of 10. If a name lapses, PKNIC allows a redemption window from the 7th to the 20th day after expiry to renew it before it is released.

Against plain .pk: a bare .pk address doesn't distinguish a registered trust from a random personal or commercial site. Adding "org" gives visitors, funders and partner organisations an immediate, honest signal about what kind of body they're dealing with.

For naming, lead with your organisation's cause or mission rather than a generic acronym where possible — a name like cleanwaterpk.org.pk or educateallgirls.org.pk communicates purpose to a first-time visitor faster than initials alone. If your NGO already has a well-known abbreviation or registered trust name, use that consistently across your domain, letterhead and registration certificate, since matching names speed up any future ownership or transfer paperwork with PKNIC.

While .org.pk itself has no mandatory document-submission step the way .edu.pk does, keeping your NGO registration certificate, trust deed or society registration on hand is useful — funders, partner organisations and payment processors often ask for it separately, and it also supports the transfer and ownership-correction paperwork described below if you ever need it.

As with any second-level .pk name, .org.pk registers for a minimum of 2 years and up to 10 per term — many NGOs choose the longer term up front so the domain doesn't need attention again for years, freeing staff time for the actual mission rather than admin renewals.
