"AC" is short for "academic", and .ac.pk suits private academies, coaching centres, training institutes and even individually-run home academies that do not hold the formal affiliation certificate that .edu.pk requires.

Unlike .edu.pk, PKNIC does not impose heavy documentation requirements on .ac.pk, so it registers and activates much faster — while still being reserved for genuinely educational use.

Registration and renewal follow the standard PKNIC rules for second-level .pk names: minimum 2 years, maximum 10, per term.

Picking between .ac.pk, plain .pk, .com and .edu.pk comes down to how formal your institution is and how fast you need to be online.

Against plain .pk: a bare .pk name is open to literally anyone, so it carries no signal about what a site is for. Adding "ac" in front tells a parent or student searching online that they've landed on an academic site before they even click through, which matters when a coaching centre or academy is competing with unrelated businesses for the same short name.

Against .com / .com.pk: those extensions read as commercial by default. An academy that registers on .com.pk can look like just another business rather than a place of learning, while .ac.pk immediately positions the site as educational — useful when parents are comparing several tuition centres or academies online.

Against .edu.pk: .edu.pk is reserved for institutions that already hold a formal affiliation or degree-awarding certificate, and PKNIC checks that paperwork before the name goes live. If your academy, coaching centre or training institute doesn't have that certificate yet — or never will, because it isn't a degree-awarding body — .ac.pk is the extension built for exactly that gap, with no documents to submit and same-day activation.

For the name itself, keep it short and literal: the institute's actual name (or a close abbreviation), optionally followed by the city or subject it teaches — for example an English-language coaching centre in Lahore might try englishacademy.ac.pk or lahoreenglish.ac.pk rather than a vague or generic word. Avoid hyphens and numbers where possible, since parents typing the address from a signboard or pamphlet are less likely to remember them correctly.
